A Mormon swimmer who finds himself afraid of the ocean meets two recovering alcoholics on their first sober vacation at a beach resort in Costa Rica. The setting would seem to free them from the constraints of life at home, but some experiences can’t be escaped so easily. As is so often the case, the swimmer falls for one of the women while the other falls for him. All three must negotiate attraction, rejection, faith, the demands and limits of friendship, and the maintenance of hard-won sobriety. In this romantic comedy with a twist, no one gets what they want but one gets what she needs.
